RUTHERFORD, N.J. — You wouldn't know it, but Rutherford's G Force Gym Co-Owner Michael Miesch once had weight issues.

"I was always a fat kid and I sucked at sports." he said. "No kid wants to be bad at sports."

His mother pushed him to try athletic activities. Eventually, he found boxing, which he said gave him a reason to be healthy.

Miesch hopes he and his wife, Stephanie, can help the members of G Force Gym find their own reasons.

"Hopefully we'll be an integral part of that," Miesch said.

"We like to know everyone’s names, their goals and their families."

Stephanie, a personal trainer, has her reasons for turning to fitness, too.

She tried boxing a few years ago, hoping it would help her drop some of the pregnancy weight. She lost 65 pounds.

Their children, all four of which have names that begin with "G," served as inspiration for the gym's name: G Force.

The couple understands the difficulties of losing weight and maintaining a healthy living. The newly-opened G Force Gym in Rutherford aims to present a friendly environment.

"While we do push people to be better and hit their goals, we are judgment free," Mike said.

We’re not here to make anyone feel bad.

Stephanie previously lived in North Haledon, but the couple wanted to open their gym in Rutherford because of the atmosphere in the community.

"We like the small town feel, with people who generally care about each other and themselves," Miesch said.

The gym offers classes in yoga, Zumba, boxing, kickboxing and boot camp. They also offer a morning women-only class which they hope will invite stay-home mothers to take interest in their fitness.

G Force Gym is located at 22 Union Avenue in Rutherford. Their Facebook page can be found by CLICKING HERE
