PASSAIC COUNTY, N.J. -- The holiday weekend is upon us and Passaic County, as always, is ablaze with fireworks festivities. What follows is a sampling of where to go for picnics and pyrotechnics.

Be sure to check websites and weather forecasts -- especially Friday, July 1 -- as there's a call for rain.

Friday, July 1

  • Wayne: Gates open at 6 p.m. at Wayne Hills High School with festivities that include bounce rides for kids as well as food by Johnny Zeppoli and music by School of Rock – Wayne!. Enjoy Fourth Fun: www.waynepal.org/ .

Saturday, July 2

  • West Milford: Festivities begin at McCormack Field at 5 p.m. with food, music, games and inflatables for kids. At 7:30 p.m., West Milford's own Jimmy the Barber and the Rockaholics take the stage, followed by the main attraction: the fireworks. Enjoy Fourth Fun: www.westmilford.org/ .
Sunday, July 3
  • Clifton: Celebrating our nation's birthday begin at 1 p.m. at Main Memorial Park where food, crafts, health screenings, clowns, free activities and rides await. The fireworks display is held at the Clifton High School Stadium beginning at dusk and includes music by the Clifton Community Band beginning at 7:30 p.m. Rain date is July 4.
