“I couldn’t be prouder of our community coming together tonight,” Wayne Mayor Christopher P. Vergano told the crowd gathered around the menorah on the lawn of the Wayne Municipal Complex. The crowd included members of Temple Beth Tikvah, Shomrei Torah and the Chabad Center of Passaic County.

The ceremony took place on Tuesday evening, the fourth night of Chanukah.

Members of the community, including a Holocaust survivor, lit the candles on the large menorah.

The event included singing and a performance by a children’s choir.

Those who attended were asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Wayne Interfaith Network. The food was to be distributed to local families in need.
