Volunteers are needed to clear the weeds to get the trails ready for hiking and bird watching. Friends of Wallisch Homestead will also explore the south acreage of the site and the possibility of new trails. The clearing crew will work behind the marking crew to open the trails. Some hand tools will be available, but volunteers can also bring additional tools. The cleanup is expected to be completed by noon.
The art show will also be open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and the sustainable West Milford Community Garden is open for viewing.
The Wallisch Homestead is a 200-year-old farm that contains 100 acres of meadows, woodlands, wetlands and several historic farm buildings. The Friends of Wallisch Homestead seek to raise awareness of the importance of the property and fund its restoration.
