Plein Air painting is the act of capturing the elusive light and shadows in the constant changing great outdoors, according to a release from the Friends of Wallisch Homestead.

At least 10 artists have committed and will come to the Wallisch Homestead with easels, canvas, brushes and paints to paint in “the moment."

A watercolor painting usually takes about an hour or two to complete.

All artists with Plein Air experience are encouraged to attend. The event is open to all artists, who also will be able to show their works for sale at the event.

The site will be open to the public to enjoy the process and perhaps support the area artists. A portion of the sales proceeds will benefit the Friends of Wallisch Homestead.

Artists are encouraged to contact John Hefferon at john@wallischhomestead.com for information regarding attending and displaying at this first annual event.

Educators and students are also welcome.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Wallisch Homestead is at 65 Lincoln Ave., West Milford.
