Photographer and philanthropist Ken Carroll and former Ringwood historian Elbertus Prol have released a 140-page coffee table book entitled, Great Estates of Ringwood.

The book delves into the history of four stately homes – Skylands Manor, Ringwood Manor and Mount Saint Francis in Ringwood, as well as Table Rock in nearby Tuxedo, New York.

Carroll describes the Great Estates of Ringwood as allowing readers to “bring the manors to life in their own homes.”

The book contains insights, photographs, and facts well beyond any available tours of the homes, offering a true-to-life glimpse of yesteryear.

While tours are regularly offered at both Skylands Manor and Ringwood Manor, Table Rock does not grant tours, and Mt. Saint Francis has been sold and is undergoing a modernization.

All proceeds from the book will be donated to the Center for Food Action in Ringwood, Connect for Community, North Jersey (supporting over 40 food pantries, shelters, and homeless agencies), and the Ringwood Historical Society.

The manors “were built by people of great wealth, and now their homes will help support the food insecure and those who need help in our communities,” Carroll said.

The first printing was limited to 1,500 copies. The book is available for $40 at www.GreatEstatesOfRingwood.com and at a book signing at the Ringwood Public Library on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Carroll’s photographs, featured in the book, will be on display at the library from Nov. 15 through Dec. 30.
