The New Weis Center for Education, Arts & Recreation is calling on its supporters and friends for an emergency appeal, its Facebook says.

The roof of the main building was damaged, as well as the roof on the one story addition in the rear of the building.

The center is submitting an insurance claim but needs assistance covering the $5,000 deductible.

The facility on Snake Den Road reopened June 11, 2016 after being closed by the NJ Audubon in 2012.

Now under the governance of the nonprofit Highlands Nature Friends, the 150-acre property is again offering kids' classes and summer camp as well as community education and outdoor programming for all ages.
