These Are The Puppies Found Behind Garfield Walmart

GARFIELD, N.J. — The 26 puppies found in a van behind the Garfield Walmart over the weekend will be in isolation for three weeks at the Bergen County Animal Shelter in Teterboro, authorities said.

They have not been vaccinated and the shelter must be certain they are healthy before adopting them out. They are also part of an active investigation being conducted by the Bergen County SPCA. 

The shelter does not know when they will be available for adoption. Anyone looking to adopt must fill out an application in person at the Teterboro facility. It has received hundreds of applications, emails and phone inquiries already.

"Please understand, our greatest concern right now is their health and well being," BCAS said.

"This is not a "money making' endeavor on our part, we have already spent that much on their care. Let's hope this gets settled while they are still puppies."

The Bergen County Animal Shelter is located at 100 United Lane in Teterboro.
