POMPTON LAKES, N.J. — Pompton Lakes Girl Scouts of all ages will cross the generational gap to party together Friday.

Girl Scout Troop 70323 will host a pajama party Friday night at 7 p.m. at St. Mary's Carnevale Center.

What sets the party apart is the organizers, the high school-aged Scouts. The older girls lead the activities, which include various games, crafts, singing and a talent show.

"We get these little girls who come and see the older girls running it and I think it's a real inspiration," troop leader Jill Tiger said. "I think it's pretty impressive for little kids and gives them a good role model."

The event serves as a fundraiser for the Scouts. Girls ages 4 and up can attend for $15, including non-Scouts.

Troop leader Dawn Gosson said the pajama party has been a tradition for about 10 years.

"For our older girls it's a great learning experience to teach younger girls," Gosson told Daily Voice. "They're just gaining so many skills by running events like this."

The party ends with a sing-along version of the movie "Frozen."

The high schoolers help the young Scouts feel like they're just having fun rather than being taught by adults, Gosson said.

The Scouts motto preaches three qualities, courage, confidence, and character, something Tiger said the pajama party helps instill in the girls.
