Paulison, 19, started racing when she was 12 at Oakland Valley Race Park in New York. Her father drag raced and the need for speed carried on to Paulison.

The Lakeland High School graduate said racing relaxes her and makes her happy.

"I love the smell of the racing fuel," she told Daily Voice, "and I love being behind the wheel and going fast."

Paulison competed in "slingshot" cars, which have three wheels. In her career, she won Oakland Valley's championship in 2012 and 2013 and has 13 total victories.

Going forward, Paulison plans to make the switch to full-size race cars, which she said will be exciting.

When not racing, she attends Eastwick College and studies the culinary arts.

Paulison intends to keep racing though, and said some of her favorite racers include Brett Hearn and Stuite Freezing. She also draws inspiration from her family and boyfriend Matt Gaughan, plus sponsors Victory Lane Auto Mall, HB Landscaping and Total Indulgence hair salon.
