WEST MILFORD, N.J. — Bill and Tracy Weaver's wedding was a high point in their lives -- literally.
Bill Weaver, a West Milford firefighter, took his bride to the air to take their vows on Oct. 17 in the bay of an outstretched aerial ladder overlooking the water at Upper Greenwood Lake's clubhouse in Hewitt.
It was no big deal for him. The 100-foot lift was a new experience for Tracy, though.
"I really didn't know it was going to be this extravagant, but it was pretty cool," he told Daily Voice.
The ceremony was significant for more than the apparent novelty.
Bill lost his former wife and Tracy her son. Moving toward the sky during their wedding helped them feel closer to their loved ones.
"Both of us we suffered great losses in our lives. Our lives have been very difficult and we found each other," Tracy Weaver said. "It was finally good karma coming this way."
The West Milford Fire Department's help meant the world to them, she said. About 110 people attended.
While up there, the couple released balloons in memory of those who died.
