By Saturday, 51 more bears had been taken in the northern part of New Jersey, NJ.com says.
The majority of bears killed as of Friday were from rural Sussex County, while one, its first and only bear killed there, came from Bergen County, the report says.
Officials in the state will extend the hunting season by four days, according to the DEP. The season will reopen Wednesday, says a DEP release.
By Saturday, the total take of bears was 472, according to Department of Environmental Protection figures, says NJ.com.
