RINGWOOD, N.J. — If there were such a thing as an "All-Ringwood Team," 40-year firefighting veteran Dave Everson would be one of its first members, one admirer said.
Everson, who was honored by the borough mayor and council on Oct. 13, served as Ringwood fire chief in 1982 and again from 1995 to 1996. he also volunteered with the ambulance corps.
"Any time you get recognized for the work you do, it boosts your morale that somebody is at least noticing what you're doing," Everson, 70, told Daily Voice.
Volunteerism runs through the Everson family. His wife and daughter also helped the rescue squad. His two sons each served on the fire department.
Before retiring in 1999, Everson worked for Ford Dealers and PSE&G.
Ringwood Mayor Walter Davison called Everson an outstanding citizen.
"He's always ready and available to help others no matter what assistance is needed," Davison told Daily Voice. "I'm proud to call him my friend."
