BLOOMINGDALE, N.J. -- Mayor Jonathan Dunleavy recently updated the public on Council on Affordable Housing issues facing the borough, saying they received temporary immunity from the state superior court from lawsuits by builders and developers that could arise because of its lack of substantive certification, according to a story on northjersey.com.

The borough sought immunity after the New Jersey League of Municipalities, the FSHC, the New Jersey Builders Association, and other private developers, asked the Supreme Court to rule that cities could no longer be protected from lawsuits through the state COAH process, said the northjersey.com story.

The mayor said the borough must create an updated housing plan in order to be able to meet the mandated number of affordable housing units it must offer under a court order, the story said.
