Carlos Alcantara tried to deposit $5,900 into the machine at Citibank in Paramus, but “one of the bills, it was getting jammed in the machine. I was trying to return the bill, but then it was sucking it back in,” the father of four told WABC.

The machine ended up taking his cash, but instead of a receipt, he received a notice stating, "I'm sorry, because of technical problems, I can't return your cash right now," according to the report.

Alcontara said he called a number on the receipt to report the issue, Citibank started investigating and temporarily issued him a credit to cover the funds, but when the investigation was complete, the bank took the money back, the report says.

WABC’s 7 On Your Side reached out to the bank, and days later received some good news, the story says.

A bank spokesperson said, “We're pleased to report that we were able to resolve this issue for the customer,” according to the report.
