RINGWOOD, N.J. -- Joseph J. Norton, 80, died at his home in Ringwood Sunday, Oct. 18.
He formerly was of the Bronx, N.Y. where he was a New York City fireman for 32 years, and retired in 1991 from 95 Truck Ladder 36 in the Bronx.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Norton and his daughters Eileen Norton-Russo of West Milford and Mary Norton-Gibson of Mechanicsville, Md. He was predeceased by his son, Joseph A. Norton and his daughter Patricia Skinker. He also is survived by four grandchildren: Robert Russo of West Milford; Brenden Norton, Ryan Norton, and Lauren Norton of Phoenix, Ariz.
Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Oakland Memorial Home, 330 Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland, and funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Catherine's R.C. Church, 112 Erskine Road.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to the Erskine Lakes Firehouse in Ringwood or the New York City Burn Center.
