FBI agents from Newark this morning arrested a 27-year-old fugitive from Colorado accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl in Denver.
The FBI issued information on a 1999 white Pontiac Montana van belonging to Bret Lee Luckett Thompson, launching a nationwide manhunt that ended just after midnight, when agents found him sleeping in the back of the vehicle behind a Wal-Mart in North Brunswick.
Authorities say Thompson — known as “Wyatt” — kidnapped the girl on June 2 from an alley while she was playing with friends. He then sexually assaulted her for about an hour and a half before taking off, they said, adding that she was found at a gas station about three miles away.
Besides the other complaints, authorities have charged him with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution (UFAP).FBI photos
Federal prosecutors from Denver have already filed extradition materials here.
