Jeffrey Carmona, 32, of Woodbridge, was headed north on Macopin Road near Dockerty Hollow Road in his 2009 Ford 150 van just after 6 a.m. when it "crossed the center line for reasons unknown," Lt. Stephen Singerline said Friday afternoon.

After sideswiping a 2003 Ford F350 pickup driven by Arthur A. Ybarra, 40 of Gonzales, Texas, the van crashed into the 2008 Jeep driven by Rock Filipowicz, 44, of Hewitt, in the southbound lane, Singerline said.

Ybarra continued southbound in the pickup, which ran off the road to the right, struck a retaining wall and overturned.

Good Samaritans pulled Filipowicz from his overturned, burning Jeep, the lieutenant said.

Ybarra apparently got out on his own.

He was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson, while Carmona was taken to Chilton Hospital in Wayne and Filipowicz to Morristown Memorial Hospital.

"At this time there is no further information regarding their injuries," Singerline said mid-Friday afternoon. "The incident is currently under investigation by the West Milford Township Police Department."
