Wanaque PD Seeks Witnesses After Pedestrian, 67, Is Struck

WANAQUE, N.J. -- Wanaque police had blood taken for testing from a 39-year-old Haskell driver after her car struck a 67-year-old pedestrian from town.

The victim was struck as she crossed Ringwood Avenue and Doty Road around 11:20 a.m. Thursdsay, Capt. Kenneth Fackina said.

"Witnesses at the scene indicated the pedestrian stepped out in front of the vehicle and the driver did not have time to stop," Fackina said Friday.

The victim was alert and conscious while being taken to Morristown Memorial Hospital with head trauma and other injuries, the captain said.

Officers, meanwhile, took the driver, Andrea Doot, into custody after finding a homemade marijuana pipe on the floor of the car, he said.

Doot was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and agreed to have blood taken, Fackina said.

Then she was released.
