Sgt. James Clark stopped a 2002 Toyota Corolla headed north on Route 23 at the Pequannock border Friday afternoon and spotted drug paraphernalia, Capt. Lawrence Martin said.

He and backup Officer Cory Deak then discovered 40 glassine bags of heroin on the passenger, 28-year-old David Pezak of Belleville, along with an unlabeled prescription pill bottle with nearly three dozen pills and two glass vials filled with cocaine, Martin said.

Pezak was sent to the Passaic County Jail after being processed on drug charges, the captain said.

The unidentified driver was issued motor vehicle summons for equipment in infractions, he said.

Less than an hour later, Officer Adrian Sulejmani stopped a 1995 Dodge pickup on Hamburg Turnpike for having no visible inspection decals -- as well as two occupants without seatbelts, Martin said.

Both had suspended licenses and outstanding warrants, he said.

A search turned up a bottle of 41 methadone pills, a bag of cocaine and a joint, the captain said.

The driver, 48-year-old David Pezak Nicholas Yacullo of Hamburg, was released after being processed on drug charges. He also received summonses for driving on the suspended list, failing to exhibit documents and failing to wear a seat belt.

His passenger, Michael V Yacullo, 24, was sent to the Passaic County Jail. He was charged with drug possession counts and also received summonses, Martin said.
