West Milford PD: Local Man Burglarized Gas Station, Got Minors Drunk

WEST MILFORD, N.J. – An underage West Milford man accused of shoplifting alcohol for a drinking party that left a juvenile unconscious also broke into a local gas station and was seen driving a stolen ATV, authorities said.

Investigating an Oct. 6 juvenile drinking party, Detectives Michael Malfetti and Donald Fantasia zeroed in on 18-year-old James Bailey, Police Chief Timothy Storbeck said.

Surveillance video from a local liquor store showed Bailey shoplifting a bottle of liquor, Storbeck said.

Witnesses also identified Bailey as driving a stolen ATV.

Under questioning, he also confessed to an Aug. 19 Lukoil gas station burglary.

Arrested on Thursday, Bailey remained held in the Passaic County Jail on Monday. Charges against include burglary, theft, possession of stolen property and criminal mischief.
