A homeowner in the Awosting section of town called police last Saturday night to report a window broken and items stolen, including the bike, Police Chief Timothy Storbeck said.

Officer Matthew Kloo was canvassing the area when he found the bicycle at the Awosting Boathouse, the chief said. Surveillance cameras showed Kenneth Bruno with it, he said.

Police posted the video on social media on Monday and Bruno surrendered hours later, confessing to the crime, the chief said.

He was charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief and sent to the Passaic County Jail pending a bail hearing.

Records show a judge released him without bail the next day, under the state's new bail reform law.
