The PTA members asked the community for donations prior to the event to make it a succes. Organizer Leane Tully said the annual tricky tray is their biggest fundraiser of the year.

"This is basically what carries the school and enables us to do assemblies for students, for us to do dances, all our fun activities for our kids," Tully told Daily Voice. "It's huge for the school."

The theme varies from year to year. In 2015 the school held an under-the-sea style, Tully said.

The decorations help define the evening, with a full red carpet and movie-theater look planned for Wanaque School. The main table up front will also have movie reel decorations, Tully said.

The PTA members brainstormed ideas earlier in the school year and decided movies made for the best theme, she said.

Around 300 people attend 2015's tricky tray.

The organizers still asked for help from the rest of the community putting it together. They previously requested any unwanted Christmas presents be brought in to be part of the auction.

Additional items are needed as well, plus help setting up.

"It's a fun time for people who go [but] it's a lot of work for the parents and volunteers," Tully said.
