Learn To Design, Test Video Games In West Milford

WEST MILFORD, N.J. – West Milford middle and high school students are invited to a free video game design workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the West Milford Township Library.

Workshop participants will:

  • Complete hands-on, minds-on physical game design exercises.
  • Design original video games and modify existing games.
  • Play-test each other's games to provide feedback.
  • Learn how to enter the National STEM Video Game Challenge.

After the workshop ends, students may complete their games using their free subscription to the Gamestar Mechanic™ game-based learning tool. They then can submit their games to the Game Alley for others to play, review and share, or they can enter game design documents and games they create on other game design platforms in the National STEM Video Game Challenge. The workshop is offered through the library in collaboration with the National STEM Video Game Challenge and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

The workshop is limited to 12 participants and requires registration. Call 973-728-2822 or stop by the library's adult/teen services desk to register. The workshop will meet in the Town Hall meeting room.
