POMPTON LAKES, N.J. – The opening night of Rhino Studio 237 in Pompton Lakes will take place at 5 p.m. Saturday with two seatings available from 5-6 p.m. and 8-9 p.m.
Saturday’s event premieres the opening of Rhino's second location. The main stage - Smiling Rhino Theatre on Wanaque Avenue - has been in operation 15 years.
A reception will be conducted from 5-6 p.m. with a performance at 6 p.m. and a second reception from 8-9 p.m. with a performance at 9 p.m.
"We consider this new state-of-the-art space a destination," said Carmela Wolosz, founder of Rhino. "We have a stage, rehearsal space, event space and the ability to do projection, so we might show movies, too. Other groups are invited to rent space from us for their productions, yoga classes and fundraisers."
Saturday's performance will be a revue highlighting shows that have been performed on the main stage in the past 15 years, including "Guys and Dolls," "Spamalot" and "Les Miz." Also featured will be previews of upcoming shows, such as "Urinetown" and "Disney's Beauty and the Beast."
For more than 15 years and through more than 150 shows, the Rhino Theatre's main stage has been reaching out to the community in Pompton Lakes.
Rhino Studio 237 is at 237 Hamburg Turnpike, Pompton Lakes.
