Hot Diggity Grill In Hawthorne Strives For Win In DVlicious Contest

HAWTHORNE, N.J. -- The classic hot dog, in all its bronzed, charred perfection, holds a special place in the hearts – and stomachs -- of most Americans, especially come summer. July, in fact, is National Hot Dog Month, thanks to the designation by the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council.

Frank Talk: This small, family friendly place with its 1950s retro feel has a cute counter where you can sit and watch the cooks make the Thumann’s weiners and hand-formed burgers on the grill.

Top This: What it lacks in size, Hot Diggity’s makes up for in creativity. Fav dogs with customers include the Flying Hawaiian, which is topped with onions and a pineapple and habenaro salsa; a BLT, a bacon-wrapped pup served on a sub roll with lettuce, tomato and mayo; and the Picnic Dog, a crispy bacon-wrapped weiner with barbecue sauce and home-made cole slaw and served on a toasted club roll.
