Borough officials are bringing paddle board yoga (SUP Fit) at OmFitness into the Mayor's Wellness Campaign.

Classes are led by Bergenfield native Andrea Powers, who gave up a college running scholarship in New Jersey to pursue her California dream.

She merged water sports with yoga when she moved to West Milford and launched SUP Fit classes at her studio, which simulate being on water.

"The more challenging poses become easier because the board teaches you what muscles you need to activate to perform the poses [as opposed to] on a stable platform," she said. "You become hyper focused and present."

Single classes are $25 and three-class series is $60. All six classes are $100.

Mayor's Wellness classes will be on:

  • Wednesdays Aug. 10, 17, 24 at 9:30 a.m.
  • Sundays Aug. 14, 21, 28 at 9 a.m.
