Carrie Sheehan rallied the community to donate gifts for Remi Presky after the high school senior's house burnt down in March and her mother passed away in November.

Though she did not have an exact total, Sheehan said volunteers gifted enough presents to keep Presky unwrapping for more than an hour.

"The response for Remi was absolutely amazing," Sheehan told Daily Voice Tuesday. "The Christmas spirit is truly alive in Ringwood and its surrounding communities."

The gifts included clothes, gift cards and other items for Presky.

Presky spent much of Christmas with the Sheehan family. She attends Passaic Tech High School and stays active in theater performances.

"She's a very upbeat, amazing girl considering what's gone on in her life the past seven months," Sheehan said of Remi Presky. "I'm just amazed at her strength. It's pretty incredible."
