An autopsy showed that Robert Messenbrink, 61, who was found by hikers in a wooded area, suffered "significant trauma throughout his body," Bill Maer, a Passaic County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, told NorthJersey.com.
The ongoing investigation leading to Messenbrink's death has ruled out "foul play," Passaic County Sheriff H. Berdnik said in a news release to NorthJersey.com.
The Paterson Fire Department recovered the body Monday, NorthJersey.com reports. The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office, the Clifton police and detectives from the county sheriff's office helped in the investigation, Berdnik said in a press release to NorthJersey.com
