PARAMUS, N.J. -- Firefighters extricated an elderly driver trapped in her sedan after a crash Saturday afternoon in Paramus.

There was no immediate word on the condition of the victim, who was taken by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center after her car collided with an SUV at the intersection of Carl Place and Paramus Road, knocking the sedan into a street sign.

Borough police, EMS and firefighters responded along with the Rescue Squad and a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital.

Both vehicles were removed by flatbed tow truck.
