The boy "was riding his bike from a trail that travels from Conklintown Road and exits to Meadowbrook Avenue when he was struck" around 6:35 p.m., Capt. Kenneth Fackina said.

He "was riding with a juvenile friend who was behind him and witnessed the accident," the captain added.

"He, the driver of the vehicle and a third witness all reported the victim rode directly in front of the vehicle without stopping," he said.

Ringwood Ambulance Corps took him to Passaic County Community College in Haskell, where he was flown by medical chopper to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, Fackina said.

"The preliminary investigation does not indicate any fault on the motor vehicle operator’s part at this time," he said.
