Anton Compas, 43, was arrested for the first time around 2:50 a.m. when officers were called to his former girlfriend's home for a domestic dispute, said Suffern Police Chief Clarke Osborn.

When officers arrived they were told by his girlfriend that during a dispute he had punched her in the head causing pain and threw food around the residence, Osborn said.

Officers determined at the time that there was a current order of protection against him to stay away from his former girlfriend, Osborn added.

Compas was placed under arrest and after being held overnight at police headquarters was arraigned in court on harassment and criminal contempt of court charges and released.

He was arrested a second around 2:15 p.m. when officers were once again called to the residence by the same woman who told officers that he had shown up at her home and was causing another disturbance.

When officers arrived they found Compas, who had forcibly removed vehicle keys from the woman, and was again in violation of the protection order, Osborn said.

Compas was arrested and charged with grand larceny and criminal contempt of court and remanded to the Rockland County Jail on $10,000 bail pending a future court date.
