The hand of Kristopher Maloney, 31, was bleeding heavily when Officer Kevin Norton convinced him to come out of the bathroom of the Ringwood Avenue donut shop Monday night after he’d been banging and yelling in there, frightening the employees, Capt. Kenneth Fackina said.

“At this point, without warning, he raised his hand and blew blood and saliva into the officer’s face and then attempted to leave,” Fackina said.

Maloney, who’d cut his hand punching a bathroom mirror, was treated at a local hospital before police took him to headquarters for processing on charges of throwing bodily fluids at a law enforcement officer and criminal mischief, Fackina said.

A judge ordered Maloney held in the Passaic County Jail pending a detention hearing.

Norton wasn’t injured.
