Gaye Kish, a school bus driver for 21 years, phoned a friend to preemptively ask her to use her restroom, and then allowed the friend to watch the roughly 20 kids on the bus for the few minutes she needed for the pitstop, the story says.

Kish reported the incident herself, according to the article.

Kish has been suspended since May 3, and the school board is set to vote on her termination on Tuesday, the story says.

Her colleagues and union representatives, as well as parents of the children who were on the bus say the incident should not cost Kish her job, according to the story.
