Jersey Shore Pedestrian Struck, Killed Walking On Garden State Parkway, State Police Say
A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Toyota Friday afternoon while walking on the Garden State Parkway in Ocean County, authorities said. The fatal crash occurred at 2:12 p.m. in a northbound lane of the parkway in Toms River, according to a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police. The parkway experienced heavy traffic delays in both directions as state troopers investigated the crash scene, reports said. Dump Truck Driver Hospitalized After Crashing Through Route 287 Barrier Into Backyard
A dump truck driver was hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries after crashing through a sound barrier wall on Route 287 and into the backyard of a Bridgewater home Thursday afternoon, New Jersey State Police said. The right lane of the northbound side of the highway was closed after the 1:25 p.m. crash near milepost 17.6, Sgt. Lawrence Peele said. The driver lost control before he went through the wall and into the backyard of a Woodlawn Avenue home, Peele said. No other injuries were reported and the cause remains under investigation. Disabled Trailers Cause Backups On Major Parsippany, Kearny Highways
A pair of disabled tractor trailers backed up two major North Jersey highways Tuesday evening. Major NJ Highway Closing This Weekend For Repairs
Route 202 will be closed in both directions this weekend for drainage pipe replacement in Hunterdon County. Both southbound lanes and one right northbound lane will be closed approximately one mile north of ramp Route 29, from 7 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Sunday, New Jersey's transportation department said. Bus, Tractor-Trailer Crash On Route 80 In Blairstown
Six or seven people sustained minor injuries in a crash involving a passenger bus and tractor trailer on the eastbound side of Route 80 Tuesday morning, authorities said. The eastbound side of Route 80 Wednesday morning due to an overturned tractor trailer on the eastbound side of Route 80 in Roxbury. Traffic was nearly at a standstill for several miles as of 9 a.m., drivers and 511nj.org reported. Brace Yourself For Weeks Of Detours Through Chatham Borough
A several-week-long road restructuring project will cause detours through Chatham Borough. The North Passaic Avenue project under the county's engineering department will begin on Aug. 19 and continue through September, police said. Curbing, sidewalks and drainage work will occur mostly between Weston Avenue and the Florham Park border. The final milling and paving phase will occur along the entire length of the road.
